Friends of LPC

Historic buildings, like ours, require an enormous amount of care and maintenance.

We are therefore extremely grateful for the financial support we receive from The Friends of Leatherhead Parish Church, as well as the assistance their volunteers provide to tidy the churchyard.

The Friends of Leatherhead Parish Church is a non-denominational registered charity (No. 290681) dedicated to raising funds exclusively to maintain the fabric and grounds of our beautiful medieval church.

Fundraising.

The Friends deliver a varied annual fundraising programme of social events for the parish and town, most notably the Annual Quiz in March and a Bridge Tea in November.

Other recent events have included a successful Multi-Coloured Swap Shop event, a Race Night in conjunction with Leatherhead Residents’ Association, and The Golden Age of Song musical evenings presented by Pip Burley.

The Arts Society has also donated proceeds from their Christmas Carol Concert to funds.

Grants.

As well as an annual grant of £2,000 towards graveyard maintenance The Friends have made the following grants to the PCC over the last three years:

  • £100,000 allocated towards our Making History project specifically to replace the woodblock floor in the Aisles and Nave with Jura limestone flagstones.

  • £1,700 to replace the bell ropes in the Tower.

  • £4,676 to renew the boundary fencing between the Graveyard and Worple Road, including the removal of a number of yew trees.

An annual Friends subscription of just £10 will help safeguard this 1,000-year-old church and historic town landmark for future generations to appreciate
