CHURCH WALLS PAINTED THANKS TO CROWDFUNDING APPEAL
The painting challenge was launched in the February Parish Bulletin with a personal plea from John Andrews, our Making History project manager. As the contractors were nearing the end of Phase 1, John felt passionately that the walls of the church were in great need of painting. The painting of the church was one of the elements that had to be omitted in order to keep the main contract within available funds at the time of its signing.
The fundraising team didn’t have to chart the appeal’s progress for long. Although only halfway to the fundraising target, the best of three tenders matched the sum already raised! John Andrews expressed his thanks to all those who responded so generously to the appeal.
The painting of the church and the porch, including the pigeon proofing of the porch, was completed in mid-March. Unfortunately, the snagging work identified during the architect’s inspection of the completed works, and the positioning and testing of the audio-visual equipment was suspended following the Covid-19 lockdown. The work will be rescheduled as soon as permissible.
